The village of Rivedoux can be visited by family, friends or lovers. Take a stroll along the Port de Rivedoux jetty, where you’ll discover the many oyster beds visible at low tide. In the distance, you’ll catch a glimpse of the Vendée and its Baie de l’Aiguillon.

Nature lovers will love visiting the unspoilt natural areas of Rivedoux Plage, with its footpaths. The charming village of Rivedoux Plage is also the starting point for the 100 km of cycle paths on the Ile de Ré. The village also provides several access points to footpaths leading to the island’s must-see natural sites.
The north coast, “port side”, is home to a large, beautiful beach, as well as the village’s many oyster beds, which can be discovered at low tide!

Sablanceaux’s 2-kilometer long beach on the south side is popular for water sports such as kite-surfing and jet-skiing, whatever the season. It will also appeal to families who want to enjoy the beach and the sea. There are picnic areas, children’s playgrounds, a beach snack bar and a restaurant.

Discover the Pointe de Chauveau and its lighthouse during your visit. Located on the Estran beach, the lighthouse is accessible with caution at low tide, but is not open to visitors. The Redoute de Sablanceaux, built by Vauban under Louis XIV, is an integral part of the Rivedoux landscape. You can visit the exterior of this structure all year round. For more information, contact the Tourist Office. In summer, the Rivedoux-Plage market is a must. Every morning in July and August, and several times a week during the rest of the season, come and discover local produce and taste fresh fish, oysters, clams…

This Ile de Ré beach faces Ile d’Aix and La Rochelle. For board sports, head for the Plage Nord, popular with kitesurfers and windsurfers: a long stretch of sand facing the Vendée coastline, it offers a heavenly setting for lovers of wide open spaces.

Last but not least, the Pointe de Chauveau awaits fishing enthusiasts. From here, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the lighthouse of the same name, and at low tide you can discover the old fish locks typical of the island.
