Located in the charming commune of Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré, 300 meters from one of the most beautiful beaches on the Île de Ré, Les Varennes is a seaside campsite ideal for relaxation and sports vacations in Charente-Maritime.
When you book a pitch or mobile-home rental at our seaside campsite, you can visit one of the local beaches (Gros-Jonc, Pas des Boeufs, Gollandières, Gouillauds, Petit Sergent) for a stroll on the sand to the rhythm of the waves, or enjoy water sports activities on the beach such as sailing, surfing and kite surfing.

For a family camping vacation, after a 300-meter walk along a sandy path to the beach, all you have to do is cross the dune to enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches on the Ile de Ré. For parents with baby carriages, the beach can be reached on foot via the “Pas des Boeufs” avenue (approx. 500 m away).

From our campsite on the Ile de Ré near the beach, you can quickly reach the charming villages of Ré la Blanche by car or bike (over 100 km of cycle paths), such as Saint-Martin-de-Ré and its Vauban citadel, Saint-Clément-des-Baleines and its lighthouse, Les-Portes-en-Ré, Ars-en-Ré and its unusual bell tower, La Flotte, Loix and its salt marsh eco-museum, as well as La-Couarde-sur-Mer, Sainte-Marie-de-Ré and Rivedoux-Plage.

Our sports and leisure facilities include a mini-city stadium, petanque courts and ping-pong tables, a kids’ club in July and August, and a magnificent aquatic area with heated indoor pools (one of which is covered) and paddling pools to brighten up the stay of all our guests, young and old alike.
With its 100 km of coastline, the Île de Ré offers beautiful beaches of dunes and fine sand. Les Grenettes, on the south coast, attracts surfers and water sports enthusiasts. Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré boasts a superb 6 km beach stretching from Les Gouillauds to Petit Sergent. The north coast features small cliffs (Saint-Martin-en-Ré) and the magnificent Conche des Baleines beach.

- Plage de Gros Joncs, Bois-Plage-en-Ré (700 m from campsite): Beautiful stretch of fine sand with family facilities, one of the most popular beaches on the Ile de Ré.
- Plage des Gollandières, Bois-Plage-en-Ré (1.2 km from campsite): Family beach sheltered from the wind, perfect for learning stand-up paddling.
- Plage des Grenettes, Sainte-Marie-de-Ré (2.8 km from campsite): One of the best surf spots on the Ile de Ré.
- Plage de Montamer, Sainte-Marie-de-Ré (6 km from campsite): Family beach with lifeguard surveillance in summer, overlooking Ile d’Oléron.
- Plage des Prises, La Couarde (7 km from campsite): A large sandy beach accessible by car, on foot or by bike, protected by dunes and a small wood with footpaths. Ideal for beginners who want to learn to sail or windsurf.
- Plage sud, Rivedoux (10 km from the campsite): A peaceful beach for kitesurfing or windsurfing lessons, kayak or pirogue trips while admiring the boats and the Ile de Ré bridge.
- Plage du Grouin, Loix (13 km from campsite): Beautiful cove-shaped beach with yacht club offering a wide range of water sports.
- Conche des Baleines, Saint-Clément-des-Baleines (18 km from campsite): Very large, wild beach on the north side of the Ile de Ré, popular with nature lovers and lovers of fishing, surfing and kitesurfing.
- Petit Bec, Portes-en-Ré (21 km from campsite): Another great surfing spot with wild nature, close to the Lilleau des Nige national nature reserve.
- Plage de Trousse-Chemise, Les Portes-en-Ré (25 km from campsite): A charming little beach sung by Aznavour, ideal if you want to feel alone in the world.
