The village is ideally situated as a starting point for many cycling excursions: Saint-Martin and its port take around 20 minutes, Loix can be reached in half a day, and the Phare des Baleines requires a picnic for a full-day outing.

There’s plenty to do at Le Bois Plage, whether you’re a fan of idleness, tennis, horse-riding or water sports. A number of schools on the beaches offer sailing, catamaran, windsurfing, surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddling and kitesurfing.

From April to September, every morning in the village center, you can enjoy the biggest market on the Ile de Ré and its mini-fair.

Focus on the beach wood market in Ré

All fresh produce (fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, oysters and other shellfish …) can be found at the Bois Plage market, in the center of the village, 800 meters from Les Varennes campsite. It’s the biggest and liveliest market on the Ile de Ré, every morning from April to September.
Right next door, the rides at the mini-fair will delight the little ones!

The village also boasts a supermarket (Carrefour Market), numerous shops, as well as bars and restaurants to satisfy even the most discerning gourmets.

Le bois plage en Ré, the ideal place to spend your vacations

Le Bois-Plage is the starting point for many cycling excursions and is ideally located for discovering all the facets of the Ile de Ré. It takes around 20 minutes to get to Saint-Martin and its port, a half-day trip to Loix and a day trip to the Phare des Baleines (whale lighthouse), which requires a picnic.

Le Bois-Plage, one of the most charming villages in the Rhone-Alps region, also offers walking trails in the forest, tennis courts and, for horse-riding enthusiasts, the Haras des Evières and the Poney-Club les Petites Folies.

Must-see sights from Ile de Ré

La Coopérative des Vignerons de l’Île de Ré: vineyards form a large part of the Île de Ré landscape. Visits to the winery and tastings of locally-produced wines, pineaux and cognacs are regularly organized. Near the island, discover the Ile d’Aix and approach the famous Fort Boyard with Croisières Inter-iles.
